On The CW’s overall DC TV front, along with Superman & Lois coming back for Season 3, Stargirl’s third season is currently going and Gotham Knights will begin airing sometime in 2023. In the series finale of Arrow, John discovers a strange box emitting green light, suggesting that his destiny is to become the new Green Lantern. So if Justice U is greenlit, this could be the only show to keep the main Arrowverse reality afloat by the time it starts airing. We’re on the second draft of a script, and we just closed the deal on a writer. It’s possible that we don’t see that much of a story from him the rest of the way, even if we don’t love the idea of that all that much. He made a choice in this moment, and it’s one that he probably won’t walk back moving forward. He smashed it, realizing that what he really wanted was to be a husband and a father. Rather than embrace the “cosmic destiny” that lied within that cube, he chose to make a different choice. If you recall, John’s story on Arrow ended with the former soldier discovering a mysterious box containing an object that emitted a very bright green light. What made Diggle’s return so fascinating here was how it seemingly played into the idea of him becoming something else (Green Lantern?), only for him to turn it away.
